Gail Carruthers - President

Gail Carruthers is the adoptive mother of two young daughters from China.

She is co-founder of Conflict Fundamental Solutions where she uses her education and experience as an Ault Educator and Mediator to write curriculum and training modules in conflict management for the corporate sector. Gail has also adapted her knowledge and experience in conflict to write and teach curriculum for newly landed Chinese immigrants from Mainland China to better understand and manage Canadian workplace culture. Gail also sits as a board member and former Vice President of Children’s Bridge International Adoption agency.

Although Gail still actively writes on her subject expertise of conflict she has temporarily put on hold training/facilitating to focus on her children.



Arnold G. Park - Past President

As President and CEO for McCain Foods (Canada), Arnold Park was responsible for the McCain food business in Canada, including McCain Foods (Canada), Wong Wing Foods Inc., Charcuterie la Tour Eiffel Inc., and Belleisle Foods. Mr. Park retired from McCain Foods in December 2005. A native of Longlac, Ont., Mr. Park attended Lakehead University, earning a bachelor of arts degree in 1971 and a graduate diploma in business administration in 1972. He received a master of business administration from the University of Windsor in 1973.

Mr. Park served as a marketing Product Manager for several Canadian companies and as account supervisor with a major Toronto advertising agency. He joined McCain Foods as a Group Product Manager in 1978 and held this position in the company until 1982.

He was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer with Cobi Foods Inc., 1982 - 1989, before he accepted the post of Director of Marketing with McCain Foods Inc. in the United States in 1989. Mr. Park was promoted to Vice President Marketing of McCain Foods Inc. in 1990 and accepted the position of Vice President Marketing of McCain Foods in Canada in 1993. In 1995, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and General Manager of McCain Foods (Canada). Later that same year, he was named President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Park and his wife Sandra reside in New Minas, Nova Scotia and are the parents of four grown children, and three little girls that they adopted from China, through Children's Bridge. Sailing, fishing, skiing, travel and reading are among his favourite leisure activities.

Carl Arsenault- Treasurer

Carl is currently the president of In Balance Consulting Inc. providing virtual-CFO services to local businesses. Recently he was the Corporate Treasurer and Director of Finance at one of Canada’s largest aerospace companies. He is the proud father of two daughters, Emma, age 11 from Hubei, PRC, and Marie, age 9, from Hunan, PRC. For six years he served as Treasurer for The Children’s Bridge Board of Directors. Carl has a B.Sc. from Dalhousie University and is a Certified General Accountant.


Rosemary Thompson- Secretary

Rosemary Thompson is married and is the mother of two children, Louis Alexandre and Jasmine adopted through Children's Bridge in August 2007.


When she's not having fun with her kids, she is the Deputy Bureau Chief of CTV National News in Ottawa.

Thompson has worked as a journalist for more than 20 years for the CBC and CTV in Winnipeg, Montreal, Washington, and now Ottawa.

She is a frequent guest host on CTV's Question Period, and Mike Duffy Live.

Thompson was the correspondent in Washington D.C. during the 9-11 attacks on Washington and New York City. She was on the south lawn of the White House that morning, and overheard secret service agents saying another plane was on its way to Washington.

She is a veteran of the Quebec referendum campaign, and numerous federal elections.

But her most exciting voyage was one she took with her family to China, to welcome baby Jasmine into the embrace Thompson-Boulet family.


Shelley Page - Director

Shelley lives in Ottawa with her husband Glen and is mom to two girls from Hunan, China. She is senior writer and writing coach with the Ottawa Citizen newspaper. She has twice won the country's top print journalism prize, the National Newspaper Award. And in 2007, she won the award for best piece of investigative newspaper journalism. As a writing coach, Shelley has mentored many young journalists and also taught journalism at Carleton University, her alma mater.

She is a long-time volunteer for Children's Bridge, serving in many ways. She has helped partner new immigrants with adoptive parents, as well as find them employment. In 2007, she traveled to China to visit several of the orphanages and children that the Children's Bridge Foundation supports. Her writing on adoption issues has appeared in newspapers across the country, as well as in Adoptive Families and Today's Parent magazines. She is a contributor to the upcoming book, The Lucky Ones: Our Stories of Adopting Children From China.



Andrew Bilski - Director

Andrew Bilski has been a journalist for 25 years, covering international news for Maclean’s magazine and business and investing news for Canadian Business magazine, where he is senior features editor. Andy and his wife, Pam Bruce, live in Toronto with their daughters Emma, 15, and Nina (Bahua), 7, whom they adopted from China in 1999 (Group 57).



Jonathan Arnel - Director

Jonathan is a solo practice Optometrist in Tillsonburg, Ontario. Jonathan is a graduate of Lambton College of Applied Arts and Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology program. Jonathan worked in the medical laboratory field for five years before returning to University in 1992. He attended the New England College of Optometry in Boston MA from 1993-1997 and graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree. In 1997, Jonathan returned to the London area to join a practice as an associate.

In 1998 he moved to Tillsonburg to set up his current practice. Jonathan has served as an assessor for the Canadian Standards in Assessment for Optometry since 2001 and has been appointed to the Standards Assessment Committee for the CSAO recently. Jonathan resides in Tillsonburg with his wife Joanne, son Kevin (8), and daughter Kristen (4 - from Fuling, China). He enjoys reading, hockey, traveling, and martial arts (taken along with both of his children).



Camille Glover

Camille Glover is both a lawyer and chartered accountant working with Royal Bank in Toronto. Prior to adopting her daughter through Children's Bridge in 2004, she also taught corporate communications courses and corporate tax courses at both George Brown College and through the City of Toronto.

She was a Big Sister in Toronto for 8 years, and was rewarded with the Elaine Giffen award from the Metro-Toronto Big Sisters Association in 2003 for the commitment and dedication shown to her little sister. In addition, she has volunteered with CANFAR, First Night Toronto, Music West, has started up a neighborhood mom's network and playgroup, and has served in numerous capacities on various co-op housing boards.



Krista Nicholds

Krista is a business owner in Ottawa, Ontario. Since 2001 she has been co-owner and co-president of her family's printing business, Dollco Printing. Krista's past experience includes several years of field sales, and general management of a mid-size printing company in the Toronto region. In 2006, her company was awarded the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants' Achievement Award for Family Enterprise of the Year.

Krista's experience is in the selling process, sales administration, customer service, business development, and human resource management. Krista is on the Board of Advisors for the Print Media program of Algonquin College. She has been an invited speaker on subjects concerning the printing industry and family business.

Krista has two degrees in political science--a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, Trinity College, and a Masters of Arts from the University of Ottawa. She is married to Jonathan Phillips and their children are Caitlin (16), Harry (4), and Bridget (3).



Matthew Kunica - Director

Matthew is currently a VP at Birch Hill Equity Partners, a Canadian mid-market Private Equity Partnership.  Prior to Birch Hill, he was with TD Capital, Birch Hill's predecessor company, and in the investment banking groups at Credit Suisse First Boston and BMO Nesbitt Burns.  Matthew received his Bachelor of Applied Science and Engineering (Honours) from the University of Toronto

Matthew and his wife Shari live in Toronto with their daughter Maya.
